Obesity, skin problems, insomnia, depression, fatigue, cysts, fibroids, burn-out, irritability, headaches, forgetfulness - your doctor doesn't always think to check your hormones. And so you can often turn yourself upside down and nothing will help as long as your hormone levels are out of balance.
Hormones regulate all processes in our body, including those of our psyche
This post is a foreword to a video that you’ll receive next week. I invited Dr Plakolm, a gynaecologist and specialist in nature-identical hormones, to my surgery to interview him. The best way to explain why is through a few case studies involving my clients (names have been changed):
Andrea, panic attacks
Andrea, aged 25. She struggles with recurring panic attacks and anxiety. „Even my own body frightens me,“ she says. I carry out a kinesiological test to determine whether we need to work on a psychological or physical level. The test indicates a deficiency in zinc and B vitamins, as well as a hormonal imbalance. That makes sense to me; an adequate supply of zinc and B vitamins is crucial for balanced hormone levels.
After two months of taking zinc and a B-complex supplement, her skin problems have disappeared, and whilst her anxiety has improved, it is still present. As we are continuing to work on the emotional level, I test her body again, and hormonal issues are once more evident. We then discuss her menstrual cycle and she tells me that she is on the pill. She stops taking the pill and her condition stabilises within six months. Standing before me is a perfectly healthy young woman, to whom her GP would have offered antidepressants just six months earlier.
Birgit, Burn Out
Birgit, aged 52. She has been suffering from burnout for the past 8 years. She has already been examined by many doctors. Her childhood and later life have been characterised by very stressful relationships and an immense workload. She has her hormone levels tested and my suspicion is confirmed – her DHEA levels are now barely detectable. She starts taking this hormone orally and, after several weeks, notices a significant improvement. Of course, the psychological process is indispensable in this context.
The ‘feel-good’ hormone, the ‘youth’ hormone – we need them all
What sort of hormones am I actually talking about here? Well, progesterone is also known as the ‘happiness hormone’, and DHEA as the ‘youth hormone’. That in itself says a lot. Excess weight, skin problems, insomnia, burnout, irritability – all of these can be caused by an imbalance in hormone levels. And none of these can be treated with conventional hormone therapies without some genuinely dangerous side effects.
Hormonal breast cancer
There’s one more case I’d like to tell you about: her womb was removed when she was around 40, and she went through the menopause early. She struggled with hot flushes and was given hormone replacement therapy for years. At some point, she developed breast cancer. It was hormone-related. I’m no scientist, but I’d like to refer to reports by Dr Anneliese Scheuernstuhl on studies that had to be halted prematurely due to excessive risks of cancer, heart attacks and strokes.
There is a lot at stake - we need to take a closer look
Our delicate female hormonal balance is often not treated as it deserves, even by doctors. A US study states that 58 % of the pill prescriptions are not intended for contraception, but rather to neatly mask hormonal problems. However, this does not address the underlying issues.
End of the line uterus
A hysterectomy is one of the most common gynaecological operations. Many of the reasons – pain, heavy bleeding, fibroids – can often be resolved by stabilising hormone levels. Bioidentical hormones offer a promising solution here. With your hormones in perfect harmony, you’ll stay young, fit and sexy for longer.
What every woman should know
Hormone levels start to become unbalanced as early as the age of 35. I’ve invited the gynaecologist Dr Plakolm for an interview to explore precisely these questions. So don’t forget to check your emails next Tuesday!
P.S.: I have already written a few articles on the subject of hormones:

Hello, I would like to order the NL because I am very interested in the subject of hormones. Thank you
Dear Cathrin,

As this page was originally created for my book and my course "Chi instead of Botox", you will receive a video about skincare as a thank you. The video with the interview will be published next Tuesday and there will certainly be more on the subject of hormones in the coming months.
All my love,
Christina
