Why cucumber water makes you fit

Summer has decided to go out with a bang – over the next few days, temperatures are set to climb above 30 degrees once again. For days like these, I’d like to recommend this simple drink to you. Quick to make, healthy and great for quenching your thirst: cucumber water.

Simply place a few slices of cucumber in the water and leave to infuse for an hour. I like to add a few lemon balm or mint leaves, sometimes a sprig of rosemary. You can also puree the water with the cucumber. You need about half a cucumber per 1 litre of water. What can this water do?

  1. Thanks to the isotonic properties of cucumber, cucumber water helps maintain a balanced fluid balance and combats dehydration.
  2. Cucumbers are rich in vitamin K and therefore help to strengthen bones.
  3. Cucumber water provides the skin with extra moisture, as well as silicon and vitamin B5, which are important for the skin. It can also be used as a facial toner.
  4. Cucumber water helps to lower high blood pressure as it removes excess sodium from the kidneys.
  5. Cucumber water is rich in vitamins and minerals.
  6. It helps to detoxify and cleanse the body, and is therefore often used in cleansing programmes.

Of course, it is advisable to use an organic cucumber. The lucky ones among us have a plant in the garden and often we don't know what to do with the cucumbers. Into the water jug today!
